The Passion of the 6th-Graders

So, a teacher at Malcom X Elementary School here in D.C. is on administrative leave after showing excerpts of the Passion of the Christ to his 6th Grade students.

I've yet to see the movie (though I have seen the trailer) and as such, I am reserving comment on its content. However, I find it intriguing that the assistant superintendent would comment on the content of the scenes shown when he had no idea what scenes were shown. In fact, as the article discloses, its unclear if the children were shown the movie itself or simply the comming attraction preview which is invariably geared towards a wider audience than the movies rating

It was unclear yesterday how the Malcolm X teacher obtained the excerpts. The promotional Web site for "The Passion of the Christ" includes some clips, and Wilhoyte was uncertain whether those scenes were presented to students or whether the teacher obtained a bootleg copy of the film, which has not been released on video.

Kevin "Shameless Promoter or Marion Jr." Chavous of course finds the showing

"totally unacceptable"

But of course, he finds everything unacceptable.
