Yesterday, I asked if anyone had information on the accuracy of this quote at the Brady Bunch press conference.

``It is a health-care crisis and it is an incredibly costly health-care crisis,'' said Amy Sisley, an emergency room doctor at the University of Maryland Medical Center, speaking on behalf of Physicians for Social Responsibility.

She said 90 percent of spinal cord injuries in the United States are caused by gunshot wounds and noted that $1.8 billion a year is spent on spinal cord injuries.

Turns out that Prof. Volokh has the information here and a further discussion of it here. As I suspected, the 90% figure is a little suspect. In fact, its off by an order of magnitude.
Incredible. Simply incredible. How many lies can one group tell and still be treated as credible??

Being in L.A. (he's a UCLA professor) he also called the L.A. P.D. to ask for a clarification on this dumb comment at the same press conference.
