First Gas, Then Sugar
As I am sure you know, the Hurricane has caused significant shortages of fuel supplies in the Southeast. What you may not be aware of though is that the entire country is about to be hit with a major shortage of Sugar.
A family member works in the foods industry and was telling me over dinner this evening to stock up on Sugar (she had purchased 10 pounds of it herself this evening) as a large share of the countries sugar refining capacity was located in the bayous of Louisiana and the Delta of Mississippi (not to mention Florida). Her clients are frightened that they only have on hand a couple of weeks worth of sugar for food production and there is going to be a huge run up on sugar in the coming weeks.
