We can’t have, nor would we want to have, a cop on every corner. The most important liberty imaginable is the liberty to have the means by which you can defend yourself. Maryland has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the US, and none of them kept the criminal who robbed me on my doorstep last year (as reported in the Sun) from having a gun.
