Cherner Automotive = Ripoff

If your ever shopping for a new car or truck in the D.C. area, DO NOT DO BUSINESS with Cherner Lincoln, Mercury, Isuzu in Tyson's Corner (I won't even give them the benefit of a link).

Simply put, these scum bags would rather put their profit over your safety. In May of 2002 my wife and I purchased a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo. From almost day one, we experienced problems with the gyros in the front passanger side seat belt. In an intermittent fashion (60% of the time), when the passenger puts the seat belt on, they are fully restricted and can not lean over to change radio stations, access the glove compartment, or in our case, hand a bottle to our son in the back seat. This is a serious inconvenience and has essentially made this seat belt unused.

On no less than four occasions we have taken the car into Cherner and asked for them to repair or replace the seat belt. After looking at the car, they always tell us (and an asshole named Tim is usually our service contact) that there is no problem and refuse to replace the seat belt.

This happened again this last week, when we took the car in because of ignition problems as well. Turns out, in addition to needing a tune up (or so they say), the car also needs a new ignition lock unit. When you turn the car off, you can't remove the key. We finally got the key out, but now you can't put it back in and turn the car on.

Cherner refuses to honor the bumper to bumper warranty tand insists that this is a maintenance issue, not a repair issue (on top of refusing again to replace the defective seat belts).

So, I warn you again, if you live in the D.C. area, DO NOT DO BUSINESS with Cherner Automotive.
