Sangria

I know I promised some tasty dishes to go along with the Avgolemono Soup I posted last week. I seriously meant it at the time, but then forgot that this is mothers day weekend.

As a result, if the weather holds out (as it should) we will be enjoying some fine Sangria on the patio Sunday afternoon.

You should too.

1 1/2 L Red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon)
1 cup Sugar
1 large Lemon, sliced
1 large Orange, sliced
1 large Apple, cut into thin sections
3-4 oz plain Brandy (preferably a fruit/berry brandy)
Soda water

Mix wine, sugar and fruit. Cover and let it sit in the fridge overnight.

It will be thick, with a syrupy consistency. Before serving stir in the brandy and add soda water until it has a thinner, more wine like consistency.

Serve from a pitcher in wine glasses and enjoy!
