This has always been one of my favorite Old Masters painting, if not my most favorite painting of all time. The lighting in the sky, and the transition from ominous dark clouds to the bright blue sky, shining down on the tower in the towns square is simply mesmerizing. It is the most beautiful painting I've ever seen.
