Jail,not death
Earlier today I said that absent a good excuse, they should just shoot the kids who released the pepper spray.
Well, The Washington Post is reporting that it was indeed an accident.
But Metropolitan Police Chief Charles H. Ramsey said later the release of the spray was an accident involving members of a visiting youth group. According to Ramsey, an adolescent boy and girl were playing around when the boy grabbed for a chain around the girl's neck, touching the small container suspended on the chain. That released the spray. Now, Ramsey is an incompetent, blathering fool. But, if the police have decided it was indeed an accidenet, then I've got not problem with it.
However, considering what a staunch defender of D.C.'s Gun Ban Chuck Ramsey is, I am surprised he hasn't thrown them both in jail for illegal possession of pepper spray. Unless, of course, they aren't mere adoloscents but rathers adults over 18 years of age who hae registered their pepper spray with the police. D.C. Code Section 7-2502.12 - 2502.14 et seq.
