The Marshall Institute
At my day job (what, this isn't my day job???) I do a lot of work with the The Marshall Institute, especially on climate change stuff.
To celebrate their 20th anniversary, they sent me a great 20 minute DVD video on their history. . . .which traces the history of NASA and nuclear weapons development and the amazing role both Robert Jastrow and Frederick Seitz played in both. The experience of these two individuals in dealing with the various government agencies, and their displeasure in how badly the government routinely misinterpreted the data before it, led them to form the George Marshall Institute with the goal of improving the use of science in public policy.
Of course, the enviro's don't really care for them since they routinely blow holes the size of Rhode Island in environmentalist claims of anthropogenic climate change.
