Earl: The Latest American Hero

The would be My Name Is Earl, the latest and greatest show on television.

I mean, how much better does it get than Jason Lee dangling from a rope in a water tower singing the theme song to The Greatest American Hero?

Believe It Or Not
Lyrics and Music by Mike Post and Stephen Geyer

Look at what's happened to me,
I can't believe it myself.
Suddenly I'm up on top of the world,
It should've been somebody else.

Believe it or not,
I'm walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free-.
Flying away on a wing and a prayer.
Who could it be?
Believe it or not it's just me.

It's like a light of a new day-,
It came from out of the blue.
Breaking me out of the spell I was in,
Making all of my wishes come true-.

Believe it or not,
I'm walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free-.
Flying away on a wing and a prayer.
Who could it be?
Believe it or not it's just me

For the young one's out there - this was a magical show for its first season. For some reason though, it just couldn't sustain the writing and plot line after that first year. Nevertheless, the theme song ended up hitting #2 on the Billboard Charts in 1981 and probably had as much success if not more than any theme song until Friends.
