A Webb of Problems

Apparently, I missed Peggy Noonan's Wall Street Journal column last week on Jim Webb. As usually, its a doozy.

It is true that Mr. Webb has said he supports the Second Amendment, and much is being made of this. But that doesn't strike me as significant, or rather it strikes me as significant only in what it underscores: The Democratic Party has lost on the right to bear arms. They know it. It's why they don't speak of gun control anymore on the national stage. It used to be one of their primary issues. They went as far as they could in terms of control - licensing, background checks, etc. - but on what was once their obvious desire to make private gun ownership in America illegal, the Democratic Party has, in the past dozen years, quietly, almost soundlessly, caved in.

If only it were so true.

Its Not Rocket Science, People

One other thing that transpired during the show was a father being interviewed. He was saying that lawmakers needed to make tougher laws to protect the kids. When he said that, I felt the hair stand up on the back of my neck. To me it's like anything else, why don't we start enforcing the ones we have now. Not create new ones.

Seriously

Don't Delay The Beaver Shave

As Heard on the Hill (subscription required):

"Who wants a beaver?" asked DeLay, whom attendees said looked happier and more relaxed than ever. Hoots and hollers followed.

The Hammer continued with lines such as, "Everybody likes beaver, even women" and, as a couple of people in the crowd recall, "The best thing about it, it's a shaved beaver!"

Fire Phil Fulmer

Just cause I haven't said it in so long.

In the meantime, here's some video from back in Johnny Majors daywhen we at least had heart if not geriatric coaching..

Evil?

What's evil?

I guess it all depends on what your definition of evil is. If you define it right, especially as you go along, you can pretty much assure your aren't evil even if, in fact, you are evil.

Oh Joy

Oh Sherrie

Rain Rain Go Away

Come Back Another Day!

More heavy rains were headed to the Washington area this afternoon, bringing a serious threat of additional flash flooding, the National Weather Service warned.

"We could see very intense rain, three to five inches, with some areas getting as much as eight inches," said forecaster Luis Rosa at the Weather Service's Sterling office.

The District and surrounding jurisdictions could see some of the heaviest rainfall totals. "It's falling on the areas that have been hit the hardest over the last several days," said Rosa. "D.C. is at a big risk of serious flooding again tonight."

RIP

Rest In Peace

Tour Time

Back in a former life I used to ride my bike a lot. Originally it was a Mongoose BMX and trials bike (back whenMongoose wasn't simply another subsidiary of Brunswick). Then it was mountain biking. Lots and lots and lots of mountain biking. And the roadie thing too.

I'm fat now (well, overweight) and don't have the time to ride that I would like but still appreciate the beauty of the sport.

And, what greater exhibition of this fine sport is there than the Tour de France (perhaps the only nice thing I will ever say about the Frog Pond). 21 days through the french countryside, it is the ultimate test of human endurance and conditioning (regardless of the permformance enhancing drugs usedd by the top riders).

Over at the Dummocrats, BVBigBro has his annual preview up.

Yeah I know what you're saying, Lance Armstrong has retired, who cares? Well Armstrong's retirement promises to bring about the most hotly contested Tour in years, and the racing should be far superior to what you've gotten used to during most of the Armstrong era. There are an unprecedented number of riders who have essentially planned their whole seasons around this one race. Simply put, this is the strongest field that has contested a Tour for the past 20 years

Don't miss it. Time permitting, I will try to live blog some of the more interesting days, but I really recommend heading over to Dumocrats for the indepth analysis I know you want.

Flooded Basement

We have had a shit load of rain this weekend. Seems a fair bit of it ended up in my basement (well, at least the front room of the basement. I've been working on it the last couple of weeks. Tore down the sheet rock and trying to correct 30+ years of water damage. I sealed up the masonry pretty good, and it seems to have held in all but one spot (which will get a third coat of sealer) but that really was no match for the river of water that was flowing through the window frame and onto the floor.

I think the plan now is to raise the ground next to the house and then gently slope it towards the street in order to keep the water from collecting in the corner of the house. Will probably take most of the summer to complete.

Today's Run In With A Cop

So, I'm on the road to the outlet malls this afternoon, trying to get some shopping in and beat the rain. We stop off at Chick-Fil-A and get the young one some chicken nuggets and a sweet tea.

He, of course, gulps everything down and not 2 minutes later proceeds to start puking it up all over him. Yikes.

Pull over off the road, and put the flashers on. I head around to start cleaning the puke up and undressing the young one. Since its getting cold, and he's in nothing but his undies, I decide to take my shirt off and give it to him till we get to the outlets (where the wife will run in and buy a new pair of pants and a shirt for him while I wait at the car).

So here I am on the side of a busy road . . . shirtless, Colt 1991A1 strapped to my hip in a Milt Sparks Versa Max IWB, cleaning puke out of the car, when a cop pulls up.

Cop: Hello. Everything all right.
Me: Yes sir. Son just puked his lunch up. Chick Fil A. Luckily we are headed to the outlets.
Cop (laughing): Well, just be glad it happened here in Virginia on the way to the outlet, and not in New York on the way to Virginia, chuckle, chuckle, chuckle (has this cop experienced the same episode before???)

Cop Walks up to the car.

Cop: How ya doing son.
Son: I puke ALLL over my MOMS car. its a big STINKY mess!!! ha ha ha ha.
Cop: Ha Ha Ha Ha. Well, if you folks don't need any help folk, I'll be on my way. Hope your day gets better, and don't eat so fast young man.

With that the cop drives off. Nothing more said.

I Love Virginia.

If You Read Only One Thing This Weekend

Then leave here and get over to Rule 308.

He's got some important points to make on The War

What Bullshit

Seriously, what up with Bud Selig. Is he a Fag, Queer, Faggot, Fairy Boy, Rump Rancher, Pillow Sniffer, Congressman, Three dollar bill, Batty boy, Girly Man, Poofter, Sperm Burper, Sword Swallower, homo, pouf, fudgepacker, butt pirate, cock gobbler, or pillow biter?

Any one offended?

Good!

Heath Shuler

The former Volunteer star (we went to UT at the same time) is apparantly runnign for Congress as a Democrat. I wonder how the overwhelmingly Democratic D.C. area will react if he wins?

Probably not well. For one thing, he seems to get it on the 2nd Amendment.

I strongly support the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America which clearly states that “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

...

I will always support the rights of law-abiding citizens to own firearms, to hunt, and to protect their life and property.

Of course, he lived in DC after school for a bit and they might hold that against him too.

Guns In School?

Hell yeah!!!

Especially when crap like this happens.

Frankly, I don't know why society allows animals like this piece of shit to live.

There really is no excuse - either for its behavior or the fact that he wasn't just put up against the wall and shot.

Good Riddance

This is terrific news. The last thing we needed was an incompetant, bigoted, gun banning bastard like Doug Duncan running Maryland.

Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan will announce this afternoon that he is dropping out of the race for governor, sources close to the campaign said today.

Duncan, 50, decided to end his quest for Maryland's highest office because he is suffering from clinical depression, sources said.

Duncan (curse his name) shares as much blame for the success of the snipers as that rascist Chuckie Moose whom Duncan hired and praised and supported in his futile gun gragging tactics.

Asshole.

Only Cops Should Have Guns

Yeah, right.

Three people were shot, two fatally, at a Tallahassee, Florida, federal detention center Wednesday as federal agents went to arrest six corrections officers, authorities said.

The six guards were being arrested in an investigation into allegations that guards were trading drugs for sex with female inmates, federal law enforcement sources said.

One of those being arrested opened fire, said Jeff Westcott, spokesman for the FBI's Jacksonville bureau.

Research Bleg

Its taken as almost an article of faith among the gunnie blogs that the Supreme Court has ruled there is no duty on the part of the police to come to the aid or assistance of a private citizens.

I know not whether that is the case or not, and frankly don't have much time to research it on my own. I was thinking of having my assistant look it up for me, but then I thought surely some gunnie blogger out there could probably direct me to the case in all of 30 seconds.

So, any one know the name and/or citation for this infamous Supreme Court decision?

I Generally Can't Stand E.J. Dionne

However, sometimes he pulls out something absolutely brilliant. . . .

Scalia's theory of "originalism" holds that the one thing that matters is what the writers of the Constitution "originally" meant. That often seems to correlate with what conservatives want to do, although Scalia will occasionally ditch his devotion to originalism if he needs another way to get to a conservative outcome. That's what happened last week in a 5 to 4 decision expanding police search powers. A more libertarian approach, Scalia said, applied "in different contexts and long ago." So much for originalism.

ouch!

I LIke Soccer

In The Name Of All That Is Right And Just In The World,

please god, DO NOT let a team from a state where the only notion of a permafrost is that crude that forms on the freezer in the summer beat the mighty Edmonton Oilers.

Lobster, Mmmmmmm

As you can see, Dad and I had a very very happy fathers day (even without the happy news I can't share).

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The can of Budweiser is mostly for perspective. The lobster on the right was 8 3/4 pounds. The one on the left was 7 1/2 pounds.

We put each in a big 'ol lobster pot with about 3 inches of water, threw in some bay leaves, dumped in a can of budweiser, and steamed em up real good for 18 minutes.

Delicious

Monday Morning Song Lyric #2

Of course, Bitter's bitching again and this time blaming the heat which is keeping her from sleeping on global warming. Heck, she's even thinking about moving back to Taxachusetts.

Here's a lyric to put the heat in perspective

Hot In Herre
Words by Nelly

Hot in.....
So hot in herre.....
So hot in.....

[Nelly]
I was like, good gracious ass bodacious
Flirtatcious, tryin to show faces
Lookin for the right time to shoot my steam (you know)
Lookin for the right time to flash them G's
Then um I'm leavin, please believin
Me and the rest of my heathens
Check it, got it locked at the top of the four seasons
Penthouse, roof top, birds I feedin
No deceivin, nothin up my sleeve, no teasin
I need you to get up up on the dance floor
Give that man what he askin for
Cuz I feel like bustin loose and I feel like touchin you
And cant nobody stop the juice so baby tell me whats the use

[Hook x2]
(I said)
Its gettin hot in here (so hot)
So take off all your clothes

I am gettin so hot, I wanna take my clothes off

[Nelly]
Why you at the bar if you aint poppin the bottles
What good is all the fame if you aint fuckin the models
I see you drivin, sportscar, aint hittin the throttle
And I be down, and do a hundred, top down and goggles
Get off the freeway, exit 106 and parked it
Ash tray, flip gate, time to spark it
Gucci collar for dollar, got out and walked it
I spit game cuz baby I cant talk it
Warm, sweatin its hot up in this joint
VOKAL tanktop, all on at this point
Your with a winner so baby you cant loose
I got secrets cant leave Cancun
So take it off like your home alone
You know dance in front your mirror while your on the phone
Checkin your reflection and tellin your best friend,
like "girl I think my butt gettin big"

[Hook x2]

(Nelly hang all out)
Mix a little bit a ah, ah
With a little bit a ah, ah
(Nelly just fall out)
Give a little bit a ah, ah
With a little bit a ah, ah
(Nelly hang all out)
With a little bit a ah, ah
And a sprinkle a that ah, ah
(Nelly just fall out)
I like it when ya ah, ah
Girl, Baby make it ah, ah

[Nelly]
Stop placin, time wastin
I gotta a friend with a pole in the basement (What?)
I'm just kiddin like Jason (Oh)
Unless you gon' do it
Extra, extra eh, spread the news
Nelly took a trip from the Luna to Neptunes
Came back with somethin thicker than fittin in sasoons
Say she like to think about cuttin in restrooms

[Hook x4]

(Nelly hang all out)
Mix a little bit of ah, ah
With a little bit of ah, ah
(Nelly just fall out)
Give a little bit of ah, ah
With a little bit of ah, ah
(Nelly hang all out)
With a little bit of ah, ah
And a sprinkle of that ah, ah
(Nelly just fall out)
I like it when ya ah, ah
Girl, Baby make it ah, ah

Monday Morning Song Lyric #1

Its summer, and with that, it means heat.

Heat, especially in the city, sucks the life out of you.

Summer In The City
Words by John Sebastian
Music by The Lovin' Spoonful

Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city

All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head

But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come-on come-on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright

And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city

Cool town, evening in the city
Dressing so fine and looking so pretty
Cool cat, looking for a kitty
Gonna look in every corner of the city
Till I'm wheezing like a bus stop
Running up the stairs, gonna meet you on the rooftop

But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come-on come-on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright

And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city

Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city

All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head

But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come-on come-on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright

And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city

Pro Gun Progressives?

Sort Of.

Still, its an intersting post. I was going to comment on it but thought I ought to take the time to draft something meaningful in light of the effort John Whiteside went through to analyze his feelings vis a vis gun control.

The Right Attitude

Meet Willie Brown, 74 year old Korean War Vet.

"He said, 'Don't move, I got a knife.' I said, 'You got a knife, huh?' He said, 'Yeah.'"

"I reached under my pillow and came up firing my .38 Smith and Wesson. He said, 'Oops' and turned and ran down the steps. I followed and shot him again," Brown said.

Nice. That's the right attitude. Don't bring a knife to a gun fight, and get the vermin while their still in your house.

Of course, this being Illinois, the states response is idiotic (though, I guess, better than I would have predicted).

East St. Louis Detective Ricky Perry, who is investigating the case, said police were called to Brown's home at 4:48 a.m. Brown's handgun was taken by police.

Although it's not likely Brown will be charged, Perry said he would present the case to the state's attorney's office and let them make a decision.

A man is attacked, and has to defend himself, and the police decide to disarm him?!?!?!?!?! That's simply outrageous. I hope the folks on the ground in Illinois make sure Mr. Brown has the means to protect himself cause the cops certainly aren't.

Still, he has the right attitude.

In Thursday's case, the intruder took cash and change from a pair of Brown's pants, though Brown didn't realize it until after the shooting.

"My wallet was lying on the floor near the bed," Brown said, adding that he wanted his money back because it was all he had.

Brown said he was a special forces member in the Korean War. He said he knows the suspect could've stabbed him, but he was never worried because of his military training.

"I might be old, but I am not slow. And I ain't afraid to take one down. I shot him in the shoulder, I believe. I think he might be through breaking in people's houses for a while," Brown said.

He said the home invasion "messed up my whole day." "I was supposed to paint my daughter's house and take a friend to the doctor," he said.

Seems to me the East St. Louis police ought to be giving him a medal.

Brilliance

Acid Man lists the great brain-farts of our time.

Good parents don't allow their kids to play with matches, and we shouldn't let ANY of those sanctimonious gasbags in DC today "play" with the Constitution. We'll ALL end up getting burned.

Second, here is where we finally can stand up and yell, "CUT THE SHIT!" to posturing politicians. We've got enough serious problems in this country today that if our elected clowns were actually doing their jobs, they wouldn't have time to worry about something so insignificant. This issue falls right into the Flag Burning category to me. Nobody changes MY mind about who I am and whether or not I love my country by burning a flag. I don't LIKE IT, and I think only a retarded sumbitch does it, but would much rather see some unwashed, ex-hippy burning a flag that hear John McCain propose another law. One can't hurt ME. The other can.

Memorial Reduction

Interesting article in the New York Times on the troubles Columbine has faced in funding and constructing a memorial to victims of the shooting there.

My take on it all, of course, is that if they focused solely on the pain that was inflicted there would have been no trouble raising a couple of million for a meaningful memorial. But, when the city decided instead to become simply a propaganda tool for enemies of the constitution, they rightful lost much of the support and sympathy that America had for them and their tragedy.

I'm not supposed to say anything but . . . .

I might soon have lots in common with SayUncle and Les Jones (and I don't mean living in Tennessee - though I am still hopeful).

Shivers

Two completely different posts.

By two completely different authors.

On two completely different blogs.

Yet, both have sent shivers up my arms.

One, one race relations and the illusion of suburban safety hits many of my current fears and thoughts. The other, on national pride and unity seems almost fictional in light of today's climate of unwarranted political distrust.

What's Wrong With This Picture???

1. All firearms are loaded
2. Never let the muzzle of a firearm point at anything you are not willing to destroy
3. Keep your finger off the trigger unless your sights are on the target
4. Be sure of your target and what is behind it

Just Another Reason To Move To Tennessee

Long time crook is casing out your car, have no fear, the cops know the good guys from the bad.

In other news, was watching a friends daughter tonight. She scolded me for not calling her father up about a job yet. He's a pretty senior member of the Tennessee bar and we'll have that conversation over the Fourth of July weekend.

I promised James J. Na that I would submit some posts. I actually have two drafted - one on the growth of the federal government and how to slow it down and the other on regulatory impediments to resolving the current energy crisis.

Of course, between my job situation and my family and stuff, I just haven't cleaned them up and submitted them.

Shucks. I really do need more free time.

On The Road Again

Heading back up to that hell hole, Washington, D.C.

On The Road Again
Lyrics by Willie Nelson
On the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
On the road again
Goin' places that I've never been
Seein' things that I may never see again,
And I can't wait to get on the road again.

On the road again
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world be turnin' our way
And our way
Is on the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again

On the road again
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world be turnin' our way
And our way
Is on the road again

Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
And I can't wait to get on the road again

What Problem??

This letter was sent to Tennessee Senator Bill Frist from a retired border patrol agent in Arizona. It is riveting. Please read and pass on.

Dear Senator Frist:

There is a huge amount of propaganda and myths circulating about illegal aliens, particularly illegal Mexican, Salvadorian, Guatemalan and Honduran aliens.

#1.
Illegal aliens want do NOT want U.S. citizenship. Americans are very vain thinking that everybody in the world wants to be a U.S. citizen. Mexicans, and other nationalities want to remain citizens of their home countries while obtaining the benefits offered by the United States such as employment, medical care, in-state tuition, government subsidized housing and free education for their offspring. Their main attraction is employment and their loyalty usually remains at home. They want benefits earned and subsidized by middle class Americans. What illegal aliens want are benefits of American residence without paying the price.

#2.
There are no jobs that Americans won't do. Illegal aliens are doing jobs that Americans can't take and still support their families. Illegal aliens take low wage jobs, live dozens in a single residence home, share expenses and send money to their home country. There are no jobs that Americans won't do for a decent wage.

#3.
Every person who illegally entered this nation left a home. They are NOT homeless and they are NOT Americans. Some left jobs in their home countries. They come to send money to their real home as evidenced by the more than 20 billion dollars sent out of the country each year by illegal aliens. These illegal aliens knowingly and willfully entered this nation in violation of the law and therefore assumed the risk of detection and deportation. Those who brought their alien children assumed the responsibility and risk on behalf of their children.

#4.
Illegal aliens are NOT critical to the economy. Illegal aliens constitute less than 5% of the workforce. However, they reduce wages and benefits for lawful U.S. residents.

#5.
This is NOT an immigrant nation. There are 280 million native born Americans. While it is true that this nation was settled and founded by immigrants (legal immigrants), it is also true that there is not a nation on this planet that was not settled by immigrants at one time or another.

#6.
The United States is welcoming to legal immigrants. Illegal aliens are not immigrants by definition. The U.S. accepts more lawful immigrants every year than the rest of the world combined.

#7.
There is no such thing as the "Hispanic vote". Hispanics are white, brown, black and every shade in between. Hispanics are Republicans, Democrats, Anarchists, Communists, Marxists and Independents. The so-called "Hispanic vote" is a myth. Pandering to illegal aliens to get the Hispanic vote is a dead end.

#8.
Mexico is NOT a friend of the United States. Since 1848 Mexicans have resented the United States. During World War I Mexico allowed German Spies to operate freely in Mexico to spy on the U.S. During World War II Mexico allowed the Axis powers to spy on the U.S. from Mexico. During the Cold War Mexico allowed spies hostile to the U.S. to operate freely. The attack on the Twin Towers in 2001 was cheered and applauded all across Mexico. Today Mexican school children are taught that the U.S. stole California, Arizona, new Mexico and Texas. If you don't believe it, check out some Mexican textbooks written for their schoolchildren.

#9.
Although some illegal aliens enter this country for a better life, there are 6 billion people on this planet. At least 1 billion of those live on less than one dollar a day. If wanting a better life is a valid excuse to break the law and sneak into America, then let's allow those one billion to come to America and we'll turn the USA into a Third World nation overnight. Besides, there are 280 million native born Americans who want a better life. I'll bet Bill Gates and Donald Trump want a better life. When will the USA lifeboat be full? Since when is wanting a better life a good reason to trash another nation?

#10.
There is a labor shortage in this country. This is a lie. There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of American housewives, senior citizens, students, unemployed and underemployed who would gladly take jobs at a decent wage.

#11.
It is racist to want secure borders. What is racist about wanting secure borders and a secure America? What is racist about not wanting people to sneak into America and steal benefits we have set aside for legal aliens, senior citizens, children and other legal residents? What is it about race that entitles people to violate our laws, steal identities, and take the American Dream without paying the price? For about four decades American politicians have refused to secure our borders and look after the welfare of middle class Americans. These politicians have been of both parties. A huge debt to American society has resulted. This debt will be satisfied and the interest will be high. There has already been riots in the streets by illegal aliens and their supporters. There will be more. You, as a politician, have a choice to offend the illegal aliens who have stolen into this country and demanded the rights afforded to U.S. citizens or to offend those of us who are stakeholders in this country. The interest will be steep either way. There will be civil unrest. There will be a reckoning. Do you have the courage to do what is right for America? Or, will you bow to the wants and needs of those who don't even have the right to remain here? There will be a reckoning. It will come in November of this year, again in 2008 and yet again in 2010. We will not allow America to be stolen by third world agitators and thieves.

David J. Stoddard

Please pass this letter on to everyone you know, including your Senators and Congressmen. We must do something about this serious problem NOW!

Weird Libertarian Politics

Since Uncle decided to put them out there . . . .

Here's my views

Abortion is murder. Don't quite know what to do about it though. Don't think it should be legal, but understand that its gonna happen anyway and might best be doing it in a hospital than a back alley. Still, anyone asking for or performing a 2nd r 3rd trimester abortion should be prosecuted for murder. I am still undecided about what to do in the first trimester (or really, in the first few weeks). I am probably ok with a morning after pill to the extent it just prevents conception from occuring or the egg from "taking root." Not sure where I draw the line after that but its soemwhere between the next day and the 2nd trimester.

We should stop wasting out time and money on the war on drugs and release the non violent (ie: street level) dealers and poor guys who were just growing some pot.

I’m for the death penalty, preferably rendered prior to the crime being committed.

I think Iraq is going entirely 100% along the course I predicted and the administration intended (and thats a good thing) and only wish the administration was more forthright with the American people about the true need to go into Iraq and use it as a battle ground to fight the terrorists as well as Syria and Iran and ultimatly place pressure on Saudi Arabia to change its ways.

not 100% for gay marriage, but not against it either. I do see it as essentially just a contract. What I keep wondering though is why the gays took the route they did to force the issue on us when they could have easily found a church that was willing to marry a couple and then fought an easily victorious first amendment freedom of religion argument.

I don't have the first idea what ID is but I don't think creationism belongs in schools outside of history or social studies class.

Pro free market

Don't know if I believe in God and Jesus so much as I believe in something that set the wheels into motion. I go to church quite often and consider myself a christian so I guess I do believe in God and Jesus, its just I don't know that I figured that whole bit out just yet. I have real interesting conversations about the laws of physics and The Force and god and chaos theory with the rector at our church. Its something I still struggle with.

Everyone pays too much in taxes, though I do understand we need some government and need to pay for it (though I think most of that can be found elsewhere)

ANWR: Drill it. Why are we even debating this????? Because a republican is in the white house and republicans control both houses of congress. If the Ds controlled any part of congress, or the White House, we would have had a real energy bill last year and we would be drilling not just in ANWR but also throughout the entire OCS and weening ourselves off of foreign oil. But the Ds aren't controlling anything and since that means they can't take credit for anything they just sit there and play obstructionist.

Kyoto: This is the biggest quack scam in history and its making the environmentalists filthy rich.

Spank your kids but also remember to spank your spouse (and let your spouse spank you) :-)

Something needs to be done to medicare and social security but I don't know if total elimination is the key. As we enter an age when more and more americans are without pensions and those with pensions can't really be certain the pensions will survive there needs to be some sort of safety valve in place for those who fall on truly hard times especially late in life when they might not be able to work anymore. We need to reform the system, but not necessarily eliminate it (unless thats the first step to reforming it)

Hillary Clinton is the personification of evil and all that is wrong in the world.

I like guns and everyone should have them, even felons and poor people.

If you think capitalism (or corporations) are evil, you’re a loon and your opinion shouldn't count.

Government is often the problem

The world is a small place and we need a foreign policy that allows us to interact with others

We need roads and some form of welfare to assist those without a job on a TEMPORARY basis and those seniors who have fallen on hard times and can no longer work and pay the bills. The best means for that is the government, at least for now. Deal with it.

The second amendment doesn't give you the right to nuclear arms. Small arms yes. Nukes (or intercontinental ballistic missles) no!

We can't eliminate .gov in one fell swoop. Government is like an ocean liner, its going to keep plodding ahead and is impossible to stop on a dime, though we can slowly change its direction.

The free market is cool, but it probably won’t make sure the meat I feed my baby is properly inspected but lawyers and an unemcumbered tort litigation system will make sure there is no problem with the meat

Neither a free market full of government interference nor unions take particularly good care of workers.

George Bush won both times. It was the Democrats fault they nominated two unelectable candidates. Not sure about 2000, but in 2004 there were a number of Dems who could have beaten Bush (Howard The Scream Dean, Joey L, and Dick Gephardt amongst them)

Bullshit Alert

Desmund Turner, is a suspect in the mass murder of a family in Indianapolis.

Turner, of Indianapolis, has an extensive criminal history, including convictions for firearm and drug offenses, as well as resisting law enforcement, Mount said. He served about two years in prison for a 1997 conviction and two more for a 2001 conviction.

Indianapolis police are claiming he used an assualt weapon and Fox News is now flashing an alert on the screen and discussing the "dramatic" rise in the use of assault weapons to comit crimes over the last two years.

Of course, no one has mentioned that its illegal for him to have ANY gun or the fact that if this goblin would have still be in jail this disgusting crime would never had occurred.
